NEWS RELEASE
During the Spring of 2008, the Pennsauken High School Music Department, under
the direction
of Nick DeNofa, Jennifer Lingesso, Matthew Kauffman and Gordon Butler,
participated in the
May 17-22 Bermuda Cruise Festival onboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s
“Explorer of the
Seas”. In addition to earning numerous Superior ratings, the performing groups
were also
entered into competition against other instrumental and choral groups that
participated in one
of over 50 other Cruise Festivals, which took place from January to the
beginning of June.
After the conclusion of the final festival, all scores were combined to
determine the overall
highest scoring groups in each class and category from all of the Festivals.
On behalf of MUSIC FESTIVALS, the national sponsor of this event, it is a
sincere pleasure to
announce at this time that Pennsauken High School is the winner of the 2008
Cruise Festival
Overall Grand Championship Award for Jazz Ensemble and the Overall
GrandChampionship Award for Indoor Percussion Ensemble. These awards signify the
highest
score overall in these categories from all of the 2008 Cruise Festivals. It is
an honor to present
these awards at this time to Pennsauken High School and Nick DeNofa, Director.
All of the staff at MUSIC FESTIVALS extends our congratulations to the director
and all the
members of these outstanding performing groups. The hard work and dedication
that you
displayed was exemplary and every member of your community, your parents,
families and
friends have every reason to be extremely proud of your accomplishments.
